Dear Students

The discipline of International Relations has focused on the analysis of phenomena such as diplomacy or war in the course of history. However, especially in the twentieth century, with the globalisation of these phenomena, this discipline has aimed to analyse and make sense of political, social, economic and cultural relations in more depth. This has required international relations to have a dynamic character and to be open to continuous innovations.

The primary aim of the department is to equip students with a competent knowledge of the history, functioning, legal framework, interstate relations and Turkey's position in the international system. In addition, the economic foundations of international relations are increasing their influence on world politics and foreign policies of states every day.

For this reason, the department also emphasises courses in economics and business administration in order to develop students' ability to understand the logic and functioning of a private sector open to competition under the conditions of a free market economy.

In addition to all these, computer, internet and foreign language learning, which are the basic elements of the age of globalisation, are given a wide place in the programme of the department and the students are seriously emphasised to be equipped at a high level in these subjects.

Students who graduate from the department can work in different institutions in the public sector, especially in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as in international public and private organisations and the press and media. Semi-official organisations providing consultancy and training services at national and international level are another field of work.

In addition to these, the students of the department complete their studies with the qualification to serve successfully in various segments of the private sector as well as in non-governmental organisations.
